The Short Answer: Music Video Editing Cost
Music video editing costs $10 a finished minute and up from a standard Fiverr seller, by Fiverr's own pricing guide, and $100–$700 a project to start with a music video editor vetted by Fiverr Pro. An automated tool cuts one for about $30–$40. Add the shoot and an independent music video runs $200–$5,000 all in, according to iMusician.
Those are market prices, not ours. Mark Studios quotes music videos per project, and our plan prices are on our pricing page. Every figure here links to the page that published it, checked October 13, 2026.
The range is wide because "editing a music video" covers very different jobs. For one artist it means an app cutting stock clips to the track. For another it means an editor intercutting six performance takes with a story, on the beat, with a color grade. Before you compare quotes, find out which job each one prices.

Music Video Editing Prices in 2026
| Route | Published price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Automated tool (Rotor) | $9.99 a credit: a music video is 3 credits, a lyric video 4; unlimited plans $14.99–$19.99 a month | Software cuts clips from its stock library to your track |
| Fiverr seller (Fiverr's guide) | $10 a finished minute and up; the guide's own example is $30 a minute for a music video | One seller, scope set by the gig |
| Fiverr Pro editor (category) | Starting prices $100–$700 a project, median $200 across 16 listings | Vetted music video editors |
| Freelancer on Upwork (Upwork's rates) | Mid tier $31–$60 an hour (median $40); top tier $61–$150 (median $100) | Hourly or fixed price, from any video editor |
| Local videographer (Thumbtack) | $300–$1,500 for a basic package for theatrical and creative artist videos | Filming and editing together |
| Independent music video, all in (iMusician) | $200–$5,000 on average | Shoot, edit and everything else |
Per-minute pricing means the song sets the floor. A 3½-minute song at Fiverr's $30-a-minute example comes to $105 before revisions or add-ons. Upwork's figures cover video editors in general, not music video specialists, so read them as a range of hourly rates, not a quote. If you go the marketplace route, our guide on how to hire a video editor on Fiverr covers how to vet a seller before you order.

A starting price buys a seller's smallest package, so read what it includes: the song length, the number of takes, the color grade and the revision rounds. Thumbtack's guide shows how videographers split the same work. One Bay Area videographer it cites charges $95 an hour for filming on location and $75 an hour for post-production.
Lyric Videos, Visualizers and Spotify Canvas
Not every release needs a full music video, and the smaller formats are priced separately:
- Lyric videos. At Rotor a lyric video costs more than a music video, 4 credits against 3. Every line has to be timed to the vocal, and a typo is public once it's posted. Fiverr's music video category tells buyers to send a lyric sheet with correct spelling and the track as a WAV or MP3.
- Spotify Canvas. Spotify's Canvas guidelines call for a 3–8 second vertical 9:16 loop, 720–1080 pixels tall, as an MP4 or JPG. Rotor charges 1 credit for one.
- Vertical clips. Hook cuts for Reels, TikTok and Shorts are usually priced per clip. Our guide to short-form video editing cost has the per-clip market rates.
- Vevo. Through Ditto Music, a Vevo channel costs £99 to set up, including the first video, and £29 for each video after that.

Ask for every deliverable in the same quote. A music video, a lyric video, three vertical clips and a Canvas loop are six edits, and a quote for "the music video" prices one of them.
What Moves the Price
- Footage and takes. Syncing and choosing between five performance takes is more work than cutting one, before the first edit decision.
- Performance or story. A straight performance cut is the simplest edit. Intercutting a narrative with the performance takes more decisions per second.
- Beat sync and pacing. Cutting on the downbeat is standard. Cutting on every beat for three and a half minutes takes longer.
- Color and effects. A matched grade across locations, VFX, compositing and animated text each add time, and are often priced separately.
- Deliverables. Each extra version, from a clean edit to vertical clips, a lyric video or a Canvas loop, is its own edit.
- Revisions and deadline. Count the revision rounds in the quote, and ask what a rush costs if the release date is close.
How to Get an Accurate Quote
Send these with your first message and every quote you get back will price the same job:
- The final master as a WAV, with the release version and its exact length.
- The footage count: how many takes, cameras and locations, and how many hours of raw footage.
- A reference video. A link to a video you like, with timestamps, shows the pace and look faster than a description.
- Every deliverable, named one by one: the 16:9 music video, any lyric video, the vertical clips and a Spotify Canvas.
- The lyric sheet for any on-screen text, checked for spelling.
- Your release date and the revision rounds you expect, so the quote includes both.
One more check before release day: if your distributor collects YouTube Content ID on the song, ask how it treats your own channel's upload of the video. Our guide to YouTube music licensing and Content ID explains how claims work.

The Bottom Line
Music video editing costs $10 a finished minute and up from a standard Fiverr seller, $100–$700 to start with a vetted editor and about $30–$40 from an automated tool in 2026. With the shoot, an independent music video runs $200–$5,000. Name every deliverable, from the lyric video to the Canvas loop, before you compare quotes, because a quote for "the music video" prices one edit.
