Photographing in Jupiter: what to plan for.

Four things to settle before a photo shoot in Jupiter, taken from Palm Beach County Parks, the Town of Jupiter, the lighthouse museum, the county film commission and the FAA, all read October 23, 2026.

  1. The beaches are county parks, so the photographer needs a permit

    Carlin Park, DuBois Park and Jupiter Beach Park, the beaches the family photographers below keep coming back to, are run by Palm Beach County, and the Town of Jupiter says it doesn’t issue special event permits for the beach. A business running a paid session in a county park, whether family portraits, a proposal or a milestone shoot, needs a county photography permit: $50 plus tax for a single session of up to three hours at one park, or $150 plus tax for a calendar year of sessions, each capped at three hours a day per park. An annual permit covers one photographer, processing takes five business days, and Riverbend Park takes its daily applications directly. All three beach parks open at sunrise, close at sunset and ban balloons, so leave those off the prop list.

  2. At the lighthouse, a ticket isn’t a photo-shoot booking

    The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., last entry at 4, and closed Mondays. Its visitor page says general admission doesn’t include photo shoots, and lists tripods, drones, camera and video equipment and any non-handheld camera among the things to leave behind. The site sits in the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area and the museum works under a Bureau of Land Management permit. To have the tower behind a wedding or a company party, book one of its venues: the Palm Pavilion, the terrace under its giant ficus, or the Loxahatchee Lawn.

  3. Commercial shoots, and turtle season on the sand

    Photos for an ad, a catalog or a magazine are commercial work, and the county parks department sends those to the Palm Beach County Film & Television Commission instead. The commission issues free permits for public property on behalf of more than 50 municipalities and agencies, needs three business days and a $1 million general liability policy, and says watercraft may need extra cover. From March 1 to October 31, sea turtle nesting season, its standard beach conditions rule out lights on the sand before sunrise or after sunset and keep tripod legs to six inches deep, worth knowing before you plan a flash-lit session after dark.

  4. Drone photos of the inlet or the house

    For aerials of a waterfront listing or a boat off the inlet, the film commission’s drone rules ask for an FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate, a registered drone that weighs less than 55 pounds, LAANC approval for flights in controlled airspace up to 400 feet, and at least three full business days, with flying limited to daylight and the 30 minutes either side of it. The FAA takes LAANC requests up to 90 days ahead and usually answers at pre-approved altitudes in near real time. Its DJT airport page places North Palm Beach County General Aviation Airport about 10 miles northwest of DJT and points pilots to its TFR list, and its B4UFLY apps flag temporary flight restrictions for special events. The lighthouse grounds are off-limits to drones.

We searched on October 23, 2026 for Jupiter family, beach, newborn, real estate, yacht, headshot, branding and event photographers, and kept the ones based in Jupiter or with their own Jupiter page that spells out what a session includes. That gave four family photographers with published prices or packages, two listing-photo companies with per-listing prices, the one yacht specialist with Jupiter rates, two branding and headshot photographers, and Thumbtack. Listing photos start at $125 (V1 Real Estate Photography) or $149 (Jupiter Coastal Media), boats at $550 for a center console up to 50 feet (AH360 Photography), and headshots at $130 a person (Dani Carretero) or $250 for a 30-minute session (Connor Michael). Thumbtack puts the national family-photographer average at $150–$200. Mark Studios quotes each shoot.

How much do family beach photos cost in Jupiter?

Among the four family photographers here: Dani Carretero charges $295 for 60 minutes and 30 photos, with the gallery the same or next day; JL Jones charges $650 for up to an hour with 15 downloads, and $350 more for every edited image; Stephanie Smith’s minis are $395 for 25 minutes and five images, and her full sessions $1,095 for 15; and Traci Sproule’s collections start at $750, with most of her clients spending $1,250–$2,000 or more on albums and prints. A session in a county beach park also needs the photographer to hold a county permit, $50 plus tax per session.

Do I need a permit for photos at Carlin Park or Jupiter Beach?

If you hire a professional, yes. Carlin Park, DuBois Park and Jupiter Beach Park are Palm Beach County parks, and a business running a paid photo session in one needs a county photography permit: $50 plus tax for one session of up to three hours at one park, or $150 plus tax for the year, processed in five business days. The Town of Jupiter doesn’t issue beach event permits. Your own photos on park paths and picnic areas during opening hours need no permit. Ask whether your photographer already holds an annual one.

Can you do a photo shoot at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse?

Not on a regular ticket. The museum says general admission doesn’t include photo shoots and asks visitors not to bring tripods, drones, camera and video equipment or other non-handheld cameras. It’s open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last entry at 4. For a wedding or an event with the lighthouse behind it, the museum rents the Palm Pavilion, the Lighthouse Terrace and the Loxahatchee Lawn.

Does Mark Studios do family portraits?

No. Mark Studios photographs Jupiter businesses, homes, boats, events and weddings, including the family groups at a wedding, but it doesn’t run family, maternity, newborn or couples sessions. When a business shoot or an event needs portraits of the team or the guests, Mark Studios takes them on the day.

How much does yacht photography cost in Jupiter?

AH360 Photography’s 2026 Jupiter rates are $550 flat for a center console up to 50 feet, $13 a foot for sportfish and express boats, and $15 a foot for motor yachts, with drone aerials and video included and no travel fee in Palm Beach County; photos arrive within 48 hours. Mark Studios photographs boats dockside for brokerage and charter listings, can film the walkthrough on the same visit, and quotes each boat.

How much does real estate photography cost in Jupiter?

Jupiter Coastal Media charges $149 for 25 listing photos, $219 for 40 and $299 for 60, with drone stills at $99 and a walkthrough video at $349, and returns photos the next business day. V1 Real Estate Photography starts at $125 for 10–15 HDR photos and $149 for 25, and its package with a Zillow 3D tour, a floor plan and aerials starts at $439, delivered by 9 a.m. the next business day. Can a drone photograph my Jupiter property?

Usually, with some planning. The county film commission asks for an FAA Part 107 remote pilot, a registered drone under 55 pounds and LAANC approval in controlled airspace, and the FAA takes LAANC requests up to 90 days ahead, often approving them in near real time. Check the FAA’s B4UFLY apps for temporary flight restrictions on the day. Drones aren’t allowed on the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse grounds.
