Drop the last frame or the video
Or paste an image with Ctrl+V or ⌘V. PNG, JPG, WebP, MP4, MOV or WebM. Your file stays on your device.
Example: the end of an outro Mark Studios designed, with YouTube's elements placed on its slots. This is the 540-pixel still from our site, so it is smaller than a real 1920 × 1080 export.
Elements
Up to four on a 16:9 video. Drag a box on the frame, or select it and use the arrow keys.
Checks
Without the frame, the PNG is a transparent template you can lay over the last 20 seconds of your edit.
YouTube end screen size and rules, in one place
Design an end screen at your video's own size, 1920 × 1080 for a 1080p upload, and keep the last 5 to 20 seconds free for up to four elements. YouTube's help page gives no pixel sizes, so we measured them: video and playlist boxes run from 620 × 349 to 862 × 485, and subscribe, channel and link elements are 296 × 296.
What YouTube says
| Rule | What YouTube says |
|---|---|
| End screen length | The last 5 to 20 seconds of the video |
| Elements | Up to 4 on a standard 16:9 video. Other aspect ratios may have a lower limit |
| Video length | At least 25 seconds |
| Element types | Video, playlist, subscribe, another channel, and a link to an outside website (YouTube Partner Program only) |
| Video or playlist picks | Your most recent upload, the best one for each viewer, or any public or unlisted video or playlist |
| Custom image | At least 300 × 300 pixels recommended |
| While it shows | Card teasers and video watermarks are hidden |
| Where it doesn’t show | Videos set as made for kids, the YouTube Music and YouTube Kids apps, mobile web (iPad excepted), Flash and 360 videos. Viewers can also hide end screens |
| Placement | Drag elements in Studio’s editor, with a grid, snap to grid and snap to element. No pixel sizes or margins are given |
What we measured
YouTube's player loads each video's end screen as data: every element's type, its left and top position, and its width as a share of the frame. On October 16, 2026 we read that data for 155 elements on 77 public 16:9 videos from 16 channels, YouTube's own YouTube Creators channel among them, and converted it to pixels on a 1920 × 1080 frame. These are measurements, not sizes YouTube publishes, and Studio's editor can change, so the checker labels them as measured.
| Element | On a 1920 × 1080 frame | What we saw |
|---|---|---|
| Video | 620 × 349 to 862 × 485 | 93 measured: 67 at 620 × 349, the smallest, and 18 at 862 × 485, the largest |
| Playlist | 862 × 485 | Both we found. The checker gives playlists the video size range, since both are 16:9 boxes |
| Subscribe or channel | 296 × 296, drawn as a circle | All 33 we measured |
| Link | 296 × 296 | All 27 we measured |
| Furthest out | 44 px from the left and right, 141 px from the top, 164 px from the bottom | No element sat closer to an edge; the dashed outline in the checker |
How to use it when you edit
Export the last frame of your edit as a PNG, or drop the finished video and scrub into the last 20 seconds. Drag the boxes off faces, logos and on-screen text, then download the PNG without the frame and lay it over the outro as a guide track while you design. Once the video is uploaded, add the real elements in YouTube Studio on the same spots. For what to put in the boxes, our guide to playlists, end screens and cards covers which video to feature and why.

What size is a YouTube end screen?
An end screen is drawn over your video, so design it at the video’s own size: 1920 × 1080 for a 1080p upload. YouTube’s help page gives no element sizes. On a 1920 × 1080 frame we measured video and playlist boxes from 620 × 349 to 862 × 485 pixels, and subscribe, channel and link elements at 296 × 296.
How long can a YouTube end screen be?
Between 5 and 20 seconds, at the very end of the video. YouTube Help says end screens can be added to the last 5–20 seconds, and the video has to be at least 25 seconds long. Keep that stretch free of anything important, because the elements sit on top of it.
How many elements can an end screen have?
Up to four on a standard 16:9 video, and YouTube says other aspect ratios may have a lower limit. An element can be a video, a playlist, a subscribe button, another channel, or a link to an outside website if you’re in the YouTube Partner Program.
Where should I put end screen elements?
Over a calm part of the frame, clear of faces, logos and on-screen text. In the end screens we measured, no element sat closer than 44 pixels to the left or right edge, 141 to the top or 164 to the bottom of a 1920 × 1080 frame. Studio’s grid and snap options help you line them up.
Why isn’t my end screen showing?
YouTube doesn’t show end screens on videos set as made for kids, in the YouTube Music and YouTube Kids apps, on mobile web (except iPad) or on 360 videos, and viewers can hide them. YouTube also says an end screen may not always show, or may look different, as it adapts to the device and context.
Can I make an end screen template with this?
Yes. Lay out the boxes, download the 1920 × 1080 PNG and put it on the top track of your edit over the last 20 seconds. Design the outro around the boxes, export, then add the real elements in YouTube Studio on the same spots.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser opens the image or video itself, draws the boxes on top and makes the PNG on your device too. Nothing is uploaded, so you can plan the outro of a video that isn’t public yet.
